The pace of life in the modern world can be overwhelming at times. We live in an era where our working days are heavily reliant on technology, which leads to increasingly efficient ways of work, but also results in greater workloads. As a result, the working week can often become quite exhausting, and we just want to relax once we are at home.

Today’s world is characterised by stressful events. We still live in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic which has caused stress and worries for millions of people around the world. In addition, the war in Ukraine is a source of concern and sadness for the global population.

Stress can often become a part of daily life, but it should not be this way. In this article, some common effects of stress will be discussed along with effective solutions to combat them.

Stress in Male Adults

In America alone, research suggests that 60-80% of doctor visits by men have stress as a key component in medical symptoms. Stress can take many forms in men. One common symptom of stress in adult males, especially as they reach middle age, is erectile dysfunction. The pressures of work and family life can make it difficult to relax and be intimate with your partner and this can cause additional worry. Thankfully, erectile dysfunction that has psychological roots can be effectively treated by over-the-counter pills from pharmacists such as Chemist Click. Stress in male adults is often characterized and exacerbated by an unwillingness to talk about life’s problems, especially if they are viewed as embarrassing. This trait of some males is a dangerous one and can make the likelihood of developing common mental health problems such as depression increase. As the old saying goes, “a problem shared is a problem halved”, and this is a concept that a lot of the male population should embrace to improve their mental wellbeing.

Problems Sleeping

Virtually all adults will have experienced problems getting a good night’s sleep as a direct result of worry and stress. Most of us can visualize a night spent struggling to sleep and watching the hours roll by even though we are fatigued.

Elevated levels of stress and poor-quality sleep tend to go hand in hand and can make the following day exceptionally difficult to be at our best.

Several techniques can be adopted to ensure improved levels of sleep during periods of stress. Firstly, it can be of immense help to talk about your worries and concerns so that they are out of your mind and not constantly focused on.

In addition, it can be beneficial to take a warm bath before bedtime and completely relax. Avoid using smartphones before bed and try some free mindfulness or relaxation apps that only require listening.

Headaches

In times of stress, a common ailment is suffering from a pounding headache. This can make it harder to focus and can be of significant discomfort.

If you find that you get regular stress-related headaches, it is important to visit your GP, who will give you a check-up and look for signs of high blood pressure.

In terms of short-term relief, it is wise to keep some pain killers in your medicine chest to effectively combat headaches when they arise.

Taking regular exercise can also help to manage stress levels which, in turn, can result in less stress-related headaches.
