SEHA Pays Great Attention to Kidney Patients & Providing Latest Care Technologies

Press Release – The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company “SEHA”, the largest health care network in the United Arab Emirates, pays great attention to kidney patients, and is keen to provide them with high-quality health care, using the latest technologies, and the best methods and treatment methods.

As part of its strategy to provide integrated patient care, SEHA Kidney Care, one of SEHA’s facilities, provides high-level clinical services through three specialized centers equipped with the latest equipment and technologies in important locations, and 10 clinics within SEHA hospitals located in All over the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

SEHA educates kidney patients about the benefits of peritoneal dialysis, compared to hemodialysis, as peritoneal dialysis improves the quality of life for patients and reduces the number of visits to health care centers, as the patient can perform the dialysis process by himself in his home or office, and during travel.

Professor Stephen Holt, Executive Director of SEHA Kidney Care, emphasized SEHA’s commitment to providing a consistent level of world-class services to kidney patients, in line with SEHA’s patient-centered approach.

He said that “SEHA Kidney Care” provides health care for nearly 1,300 patients, and hopes to transplant kidneys to all patients with kidney failure, but some patients may not be medically qualified for the transplant, or they may not have a donor to transfer a kidney from him, and in this case Many patients still need treatment through dialysis to stay healthy.

For his part, Dr. Ayman Al-Madani, Director of Operations at SEHA Kidney Care, said that peritoneal dialysis is not a new treatment, but there is a need to raise awareness of its benefits as a treatment that the patient does himself, as peritoneal dialysis enables people to continue their normal lives while receiving the necessary treatment. By performing peritoneal dialysis at home by the patient himself, or with the help of a health care provider, and does not require repeated visits to the health care center, and this enables patients to continue their lives and live more comfortably.

He added that peritoneal dialysis is a more cost-effective treatment and results because it provides continuous dialysis, allowing patients to control excess fluids in the body and some blood salts more easily while reducing pressure on the heart and blood vessels.

Dr. Ayman Al-Madani explained that through proper education and training of patients, peritoneal dialysis is a safe and effective alternative to dialysis, as “SEHA Kidney Care” aims to improve patients’ quality of life by providing treatments that can be more easily integrated into their daily lives.

Speaking about the benefits of peritoneal dialysis, one of the kidney patients, Mac Thomas, said: “When I was diagnosed with kidney disease, I had to go to the clinic more than three times a week and spend hours there while the machine filtered my blood, now that the decision has been made to switch to dialysis. Peritoneal Kidney, I don’t have to plan my time around appointments, and I had a great time.

It is worth noting that hemodialysis is a way to replace some of the kidney functions by using a machine to filter and clean the blood, as the blood is pumped out of the body through a tube into a blood vessel or needles placed in a large vein, to the device where it is passed through a series of microtubules that are filtered in An “artificial kidney” or a “dialysis device”, this type of dialysis cannot be performed at home, and requires frequent visits to the hospital or clinic, usually up to three times a week.

As for peritoneal dialysis, it offers a different approach. A permanent soft catheter is inserted into a cavity between the membrane and the organs of the human body. By pumping the dialysis fluid into this cavity, the waste passes from the body into the fluid. After several hours, the fluid containing the waste is withdrawn and replaced with a new fluid. , where the peritoneal lavage fluid enters the peritoneal cavity and then exits through a catheter that is placed in the lower part of the abdomen through a simple surgical procedure.

There are two forms of peritoneal dialysis available, the first is “continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis”, which is a manual option without a machine that is performed while the patient goes about his normal activities, and the second is “automated peritoneal dialysis, which uses a machine (cycler) to deliver the cleaning fluid and then Discharge it, usually at night while the patient is sleeping.

The specialized team at SEHA Kidney Care provides the appropriate treatment for the patient, and recommends peritoneal dialysis as a good and better treatment for the body.
