There are many parts of your body that work hard every single day to keep you fit and strong. Unfortunately, many of us do not do enough to protect ourselves and our general health and well-being. The unfortunate thing however is that we live in a very fast moving world where things are being built every single day and people are travelling from one destination to another using many different forms of transport. All of this increased movement leads to high pollution levels and we are breathing in this air every single day of the week.
If you live in a very built-up area or a major city then in all likelihood, the air that you are breathing in is not good for your lungs and the last thing that you want to experience is to be told by your doctor that you are in need of some essential lung cancer radiation. This is why you have to do all within your power to protect your lungs and to increase their capacity. The following are just some of the top tips to make sure that you have the healthiest lungs available at any point.
You Need to Stop Smoking
If you are a smoker then this is something that you have to knock on the head as soon as possible. This will have an immediate effect on your lungs and your capacity to be able to breathe better. If you have been smoking for many years then you are creating inflammation within your lungs which puts you at higher risk of cancer and other diseases like COPD. Talk to your medical practitioner about ways that you can give up this nasty habit today.
Get Some Regular Exercise
It makes sense that if you are more physically active then your heart and your lungs have to work harder to provide you with the oxygen that you need. Doing exercise for at least 30 minutes a day for five days a week will give you much stronger lungs. Once your lungs are able to provide your muscles with the oxygen that they need to work, then you will get fitter over time.
Always Eat Healthy Food
This is advice that our medical practitioners have been telling us for many years now and the type of food that you put into your body dictates whether or not you will have healthier lungs and other organs. Your diet needs to be varied because we need many different vitamins from many different kinds of food. It is also important that you keep yourself properly hydrated throughout the day because if you’re not drinking enough then this slows down your breathing and may exacerbate any health issues that you are currently experiencing.
Always make sure that you make regular appointments with your healthcare provider so that you can get checkups on a regular basis and especially so as you get older. You need to do this for yourself today.
