Bahrain is the First Country in the World to Approve the Emergency Use of AstraZeneca Anti-Covid Drug

The health authorities in Bahrain announced their approval of the emergency use of the anti-covid drug “AZD7442” produced by AstraZeneca to treat the Coronavirus.

Thus, Bahrain became the first country to legalize the use of the drug, which will be of limited usage to adults of at least 18 years who suffer from immunodeficiency and workers in sectors that expose them to the risk of infection.

And the anti-covid drug by Astrazeneca “AZD7442” is made of a mixture of two monoclonal antibodies (tixagevimab & cilgavimab), which achieved a statistically significant decrease in cases of acute or fatal coronavirus (Covid-19) in patients who were not hospitalized and those with symptoms between mild to moderate. According to the Bahrain News Agency.

More than 5,000 people participated in the clinical trials called “PROVENT”, where it was proven that the new drug is 77% effective against the Coronavirus (Covid-19), while there were no reports of any severe symptoms within the group that received the treatment.
