The Discovery of New Dangerous Coronavirus “Mu Variant”

A state of fear, anxiety and panic prevailed after the World Health Organization announced the emergence of a new mutant of the Corona virus called “Mu variant”, classified as one of the interesting and worrisome variants, given that it is more spread and more dangerous than all previous variants of the virus because it is resistant to the vaccines that we rely on at present.

The World Health Organization included Mu variant under the watch lists Four days ago, which was first detected in Colombia last January, and then new infections with this mutant were reported in a number of Latin American and European countries.

Preliminary research on Mu variant indicated many concerns, such as that it evades the body’s immunity, and it may not be covered by the immune protection that was developed and acquired during the recent period after receiving various vaccines to confront Coronavirus infection.

Doctors confirmed that the spread of Mu variant so far is a small percentage of 0.1% of coronavirus cases worldwide, but in South American countries the percentage is higher, so the infection rates for Mu variant in Colombia reach 39%, while in Ecuador, the rates of infection for 13%.

Mu Variant with Special Characteristics

Classifying the “Mu variant” as an interesting variant, meaning that it has unique characteristics from the original virus, and has begun to achieve a limited spread, but it has not yet reached the frightening degree of global spread, and this differs from other variants carrying An alarming description because, in addition to having different characteristics from the original virus, it was able to spread globally.

The new variant contains a group of mutations that give it this unique ability, which was revealed through early data, which indicates that the ability of blood serum from vaccinated people and people who recovered from Coronavirus infection to neutralize the Mu variant was similar to its ability to be a beta variant, which means that it significantly evades immune responses, and is only separated from the list of concern by its low global prevalence.

Mu Variant Symptoms

The symptoms of infection with the new variant did not differ from the previous variants of the emerging coronavirus family, Covid-19, as the symptoms of infection with the mutant were similar to most other symptoms of the virus, which we explain as follows:

  • Sore throat.
  • Runny nose.
  • Very severe headache.
  • Extremely high temperatures.
  • chills in the body.
  • dry cough.
  • Diarrhea and vomiting.
  • Abdominal pain.
  • shortness of breath.
  • chest pain.
  • Cravings to sleep and inability to wake up.
  • Pain in the body and muscles, feeling tired and exhausted.

How to Prevent the Spread of Mu Variant?

Despite the strength of these mutations, they did not change the composition of the virus, but the difference here is in the speed of spread.

In Mu variant, for example, the virus spreads faster than other mutations, so doctors stress the need to adhere to social distancing measures, wear a protective mask, follow all preventive measures, and most importantly, taking vaccinations so that we can besiege the virus as soon as possible because this is the only solution to prevent the spread of new mutations of the virus.
